Hamish & Lena

Hamish Brown gave me a call one afternoon. His booming radio voice was unmistakable. I thought I was on national radio but then remembered that he hosts the Gold Breakfast Show every morning. Hamish wanted decent photography to remember his wedding day and as a gentle surprise for his elegant bride, Lena. “Shall we meet at the venue, walk around and have a chat?” he asked. “You bet!” I thought.

Despite his 4:30am wakeup calls every morning, Hamish still finds time (and energy) in the afternoon to run a successful events management company. After last Monday’s tell-all interview with Straits Times Life!, Hamish and Lena have kindly allowed me to share some of their wedding day highlights with you. Enjoy.

Wedding date: Sunday, 11 October 2009
Venue: The Olive Ristorante, Labrador Park
Gown: Ann Teoh Fashion Studio
Hair & makeup: Sam Unoss, Flair Salon
Solemniser: Dr Baey Lian Peck, JP, BBM(L)

At first glance the inscriptions threw me off completely. This was not the language of mere mortals. Then I learnt later that Hamish and Lena were Lord of the Rings fans. It was Elvish script.

Grooms-to-be take note. Hamish graciously gave Lena the One Ring to rule them all. He settled for one of the Rings of Power, still not a bad thing.

The intricate pendant of Arwen Evenstar, the Elven princess. As the story goes she falls in love with Aragorn, a mortal man, and is then faced with the heart-wrenching choice to leave Middle Earth with her people or forgo her immortality for the man she loves.

The cheeky Gold 90.5FM crew poke fun at one of Hamish’s best friends.

Arwen: Renich i lú i erui govannem? [Do you remember the time when we first met?]
Aragorn: Nauthannen i ned ôl reniannen. [I thought I had strayed into a dream]
