About

About me

I’m a qualified lawyer back in Melbourne, Australia. So what’s a lawyer doing in wedding photography!?! Well, you could ask the same of lawyers-turned-chefs, hoteliers and playwrights. Perhaps it’s what they teach us in law school: to have a critical, unerring eye for details and to ask oneself, “how can this be done in another way?”.

I’ve never looked back since turning professional. Wedding photography combines my desire to write, my appreciation for aesthetics and design, and yes, I get to work with very heavy and expensive cameras.

What do you offer?

I offer wedding photography and videography services for your pre-wedding, ROM and Actual Day. I also offer a range of bespoke, handmade wedding albums to complement your wedding portfolio.

Who is it for?

ambi photography is for well-travelled, discerning couples who want something a lot more than posed and cliched wedding photography. I offer a refreshing take on traditional photography, a personal touch and a professional attitude on your wedding day.

What is your style?

In one breath: honest-to-goodness candid and photojournalistic photography with an eye for the beautiful, interesting and the unconventional during your wedding.

I also throw in a sensible dose of portraits, humour and cheekiness where appropriate.

I’m glad to say that I consistently outdo myself with each and every couple. Look at my past works and judge for yourself.

Do you have a life?

In between wedding assignments Yu-Shan enjoys tinkering around his kitchen. He readily admits to reading cookbooks and travel guides at bedtime. His immediate short-term goal is to finally use the ice-cream maker he received for his birthday back in 2008. He dreams of retiring with a tiny espresso bar in Tokyo that serves real coffee.
